🔍 What is NIOS?

NIOS — the National Institute of Open Schooling — is an autonomous organisation under the Government of India’s Ministry of Education. It is the world’s largest open schooling system and provides flexible, learner-paced Secondary (Class 10 equivalent) and Senior Secondary (Class 12 equivalent) certification for students who cannot access or thrive in conventional mainstream schooling.

NIOS certificates are fully recognised and equivalent to CBSE and all State Board certificates. They are accepted by all universities, colleges, government bodies, defence services and employers across India, and are recognised internationally. NIOS is not an inferior pathway — it is a different, more flexible pathway to the same qualification.
