🔍 What is Educational Consultation?

Educational Consultation at Sherin’s Rainbow is a professional advisory service for families who need expert guidance on their child’s education. Whether you’re navigating a newly received learning diagnosis, choosing between schools, trying to understand a psychoeducational assessment report, preparing for board examinations, planning for university entry with a learning difference, or simply concerned about your child’s academic progress — our senior educational consultants provide clear, personalised and actionable advice.

Our consultants hold advanced qualifications across educational psychology, special education, curriculum design and the Indian school system — giving them a genuinely comprehensive perspective on the full landscape of options, rights and pathways available to your child.

Every consultation results in a written Educational Roadmap — a clear, prioritised action plan that families can take away and implement with confidence, knowing the advice has been tailored to their child’s unique profile and family context.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

Is a consultation the same as an assessment?
No. An assessment evaluates your child’s abilities using standardised psychometric tools and produces a detailed clinical report. A consultation is a professional advisory meeting where an expert reviews existing information and provides strategic recommendations and guidance. Consultations most commonly follow assessments to help families understand results and know exactly what to do next.
Can consultation help with school accommodation requests?
Yes. Our educational consultants can advise on the specific documentation required, prepare formal supporting letters and guide families through the process of applying for school-based accommodations such as extra time, scribe support, separate examination rooms, modified assignment formats and assistive technology permissions. We also communicate directly with schools to support the application.
Do you attend school meetings with parents?
Yes. With the family’s consent and request, our consultants attend school review meetings, IEP (Individualised Education Programme) meetings, placement review meetings and parent-teacher conferences as an expert advocate for the child. Having a knowledgeable professional alongside you in these meetings can significantly improve outcomes for families navigating complex educational situations.
What if I just need a second opinion on my child’s assessment results?
A second opinion consultation is one of the most common reasons families come to us. If you have received assessment results that you don’t fully understand, feel uncertain about, or that don’t seem to match what you observe at home — bring those reports to a consultation and our senior consultant will review them thoroughly, explain them clearly and provide their independent perspective on the recommendations.
