🔍 What is School Readiness Get-Set-Go?

Giving every child the academic foundations, social confidence and emotional readiness to walk into Kindergarten and truly thrive from day one.

⏱ 8-week intensive programme
👤 Ages 4.5 – 6 years

🔍 What is Get-Set-Go?

School Readiness Get-Set-Go is our flagship transition programme for children aged 4.5–6 years preparing to enter formal schooling. Research consistently and powerfully demonstrates that children who enter Kindergarten with strong foundational skills — academic, social, emotional and physical — experience significantly better outcomes throughout their entire school career, with benefits lasting well into secondary school and beyond.

Our programme specifically addresses the critical gap many children face between preschool and formal school. Where preschool focuses on play and exploration, Kindergarten introduces structured learning, sustained attention demands, peer collaboration and independence expectations that not all children are naturally ready for. Get-Set-Go bridges that gap deliberately and effectively.

Delivered by our experienced early childhood educators and supported by our therapy team, Get-Set-Go combines academic readiness skill building with social-emotional coaching, classroom simulation activities and parent empowerment workshops.

💡 What the Programme Covers

  • Pre-literacy — letter recognition (uppercase and lowercase), phonological awareness, rhyme, blending and segmenting
  • Pre-writing — pencil grip, letter formation patterns, line awareness and visual-motor integration
  • Pre-numeracy — number recognition 1–20, counting, one-to-one correspondence, basic addition readiness
  • Classroom Attention — sitting for structured activities, transitioning between tasks, following 2–3 step instructions
  • Classroom Routines — managing a school bag, lunchbox, locker, toilet independence and asking for help
  • Social Skills — waiting, turn-taking, sharing materials, peer greetings and making friends
  • Emotional Regulation — coping strategies for big feelings, separation anxiety and frustration during learning
  • Independence — managing transitions, working alone for short periods and seeking teacher help appropriately

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

When should my child start this programme?
Ideally, the programme should be completed in the term before Kindergarten entry — typically 3–5 months before your child’s intended school start date. This gives enough time to complete the full 8 weeks, allow the skills to consolidate and for the transition report to be provided to the school in advance.
My child already attends preschool — do they still need Get-Set-Go?
Many children who attend regular preschool still benefit enormously from Get-Set-Go because it specifically and systematically targets the academic, attention and independence skills required in a formal school setting — skills which regular preschools often don’t address explicitly. The structured classroom simulation experience alone is something preschools rarely provide.
Is there a therapy component to this programme?
Yes. Get-Set-Go is delivered collaboratively between our educators and therapy team. If a child requires additional OT, speech or motor support during the programme, this is coordinated seamlessly and embedded into their daily schedule. Many children attend Get-Set-Go alongside specific therapy sessions, creating a powerful combined intervention in the pre-school transition period.
What if my child still doesn’t seem ready after completing the programme?
We reassess every child at the end of the 8-week programme. If a child would benefit from continued support before school entry, we will recommend the most appropriate next step — whether that’s extending the programme, beginning additional therapy, or advising on the best type of school placement for the child’s profile. Our goal is always the child’s genuine readiness and long-term success.
